The four regions that encompass South West Wales are Neath Port Talbot, Swansea, Carmathenshire and Pembrokeshire. Each of the four regions have a number of reasons to visit, but perhaps the most compelling of all would be the coastal landscape and towns you'll find here in South West Wales.
Swansea, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire have numerous coastal areas of outstanding natural beauty and Pembrokshire contains the UK's only coastal National Park. The industrial nature of the Neath Port Talbot region should not deter you from visiting as this region contains some amazing parks, activity centres and not forgetting the impressive recently refurbished beach front promenade at Aberavon, Port Talbot.
For days out you'll be spoilt for choice with great castles such as Kidwelly Castle (Carmarthenshire), Pembroke Castle ( Pembrokeshire) and a choice of stunning beaches to be found on the Gower coastline (Swansea). If all out activity is your thing then why not try mountain biking on one of the four trails at Afan Forest Park (Neath Port Talbot), quoted as being one of the top ten places to ride in the world.
As for accommodation, this part of Wales is really geared up for tourism so much so, that even the locals holiday here. Two of the most popular coastal tourist resorts are Tenby and Sandersfoot, both of which offer many hotels, bed and breakfast and guest house accommodations.
Further inland you'll find many camp sites for both tents and caravans along with cottages and lodges in ideal locations for those looking for a base from which they can explore South West Wales.
