An oasis just 3 miles from the centre of Cardiff, Roath park is a firm favourite with locals both near and far. Opened in 1894, a paved walkway surrounds the lake, for those wishing to take a stroll. There is a small cafe located near the main entrance, along with an ice cream stand. A childs playground can also be found in the park, with slides, swings and climbing frames.
Roath Park - Scott Memorial Tower and Lake

The clock tower at one end of the lake was erected in 1915 to comemorate Scott’s expedition to the Antarctic, which set out from Cardiff docks.
You can hire rowing boats to take out on the lake in spring and summer or take a leisurely ride aboard the Roath Pride motor boat.
Roath park is open all year round and offers something for everyone. If you are interested in botany, there is a rose garden and at the far end of the park there is a conservatory housing numerous exotic plants.
The park still maintains a victorian feel and the pleasant atmosphere is a welcome addition to this impressive city park.
The park has also recently been awarded “Green Flag” status, which recognises the efforts of local authorities for managing a quality green space.
