One of the biggest attractions in The National Botanic Gardens in Camarthenshire is the Great Glasshouse which is the largest dome shaped single span glasshouse in the world. The plants that have been grown here have a Mediterranean climate and have been transported from six different areas of the world. The plants have come from the Canary Islands, Ausralia, Chile, California, The Mediterranean Basin and South Africa. The plants and landscape within this enourmous glasshouse covers around 3,500 square metres and was designed by an architect called Kathryn Gustaffson. The sight is absolutely spectacular as you picture yourself in the warmer climates of where these plants have originated.

The double walled garden has been divided in to four different section. Many years ago it was used as a kitchen garden for growing fresh fruit and vegetables. Now there is still a small part of the garden , quadrant 4 which is used for growing some vegetables which are used in the Seasons Restaraunt. Quadrant 1 to 3 of the double walled garden are used to tell us the story of the evolution of flowering plants.
