Mid Wales Map

Ceredigion, Merthyr Tydfil and Powys are the three boroughs that occupy the Mid Wales region, from the Brecon Beacons National Park in the south to the edge of Snowdonia National Park in the north. Mid Wales has some fantastic mountain scenery and an equally impressive coastline.

There are some world reknowned market towns in Mid Wales and one of the most well known is that of Hay-on-Wye. Famous the world over for it's more than thirty book shops and it's annual literary festival, visitors often include Hollywood stars, American presidents and Heads of State.

The town of Brecon plays host to the well known Brecon Jazz Festival, where entertainers travel from around the world to play in the pubs, the main square, market hall and even the car parks.

The Royal Welsh Agricultural Show takes place every year in Builth Wells and is a celebration of country life with exhibitors from all over Wales. These are just a few of the many festivals and annual events taking place in Mid Wales throughout the year.

This region of Wales is also ideally suited to outdoor pursuits and a number of activity and adventure companies organise anything from canoeing, gorge walking, mountain biking, rock climbing and much more.

You can even hire a canal boat to steer along the Brecon and Monmouthshire canal or explore the underground caves at Dan-yr-Ogof. You may even wish to take part in the world bog snorkelling championships that takes place at Llanwrtyd Wells.

Go surfing in Aberystwyth or walking in the Beacons National Park, whatever outdoor activities you enjoy, then Mid Wales can more than satisfy your desires.

Accommodation as in all parts of Wales is really a matter of choice, as you can enjoy the full range from luxury to basic, from hotels to tents, cottages to caravans or even log cabins.
