There are literally thousands of cottages in Wales that are available for rental. Some are over 100 years old and although they all come with modern conveniences, many still retain the character that makes staying in a cottage all the more welcoming.

Typical Cottage Welsh Cottages

Cottages can come with up to five bedrooms but most of the choice is for between one and three bedrooms. Some of the older cottages still have thatched roofs and beamed ceilings. Traditionally cottages had small windows, clay walls, poor lighting and mostly single story dwellings.

Mordernisation of cottages have often resulted in a blend of the “olde” with the new. This has allowed the cottage rental market in to flourish, as most holiday cottages are now pretty much a home from home. The cottages built within the last 50 years, generally have two stories, a slate roof and ample light through the windows. The aim of modern built cottages is to try and recreate the homely feel of a traditional cottage.

One thing that has not changed are the alluring thoughts of staying in affordable homely accommodation for our holidays. A cottage holiday in Wales will ensure that’s exactly what you get.

We have started to add cottages to the four accommodation sections of the site North Wales Cottages, Mid Wales Cottages, South East Wales Cottages and South West Wales Cottages.

Lodges In Wales

An excellent alternative to staying in a cottage is to stay in a lodge. These are generally known as log cabins and are often located in a forestry setting in rural areas.

They can range in size from one and up to five bedrooms with basic or luxury fixtures and fittings. Some of the higher end lodges have outdoor hot tubs, dvd players, widescreen televisions and ensuite shower facilities.
